Orders
Q: How long will it take to receive my order?
A: Please allow 2-4 weeks for orders in the United States and
Canada. For all other countries allow 4-8 weeks for international surface
mail or 2-4 weeks for international airmail. If you need your order within
ten days in the U.S. please consider paying extra for rush shipping. If
you need your order within ten days outside the U.S., Global Express Mail
or Global Priority Mail may be available for your country. Please e-mail
orders@midwiferytoday.com
for details.
For orders in the U.S., if you have a deadline that is more than ten
days from the time you order please tell us your deadline and we will
prioritize your order at no extra cost. We can also prioritize orders
to Canada and other countries, but we cannot be sure of making your deadline
because of the uncertainty of international mail service. Please use the
note field in the shopping cart to inform us of your deadline.
Q: How do I find out the status of my order?
A: Please e-mail admin@midwiferytoday.com.
Alternately, please call 1-800-743-0974 (U.S. and Canada) or 1-541-344-7438.
We cannot usually give you immediate information about your order status
by phone, but you can leave a message, and the order department will get
back to you.
Q: When is my order overdue?
A: For orders within the U.S. or Canada or for international airmail
shipments, if you have not received your order at the end of four weeks
from the time you ordered, then your order is overdue. If you ordered
shipment by international surface mail, your order may be overdue at the
end of eight weeks from the time you ordered. However, international surface
mail can take up to 12 weeks. If you feel your order is overdue or you
wish to check on the status of your order at any time, please e-mail orders@midwiferytoday.com
or call 1-800-743-0974 (U.S. and Canada) or 1-541-344-7438.
Q: What about customs clearance?
A: For orders outside the U.S., you may be subject to import duties
and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Additional
charges for customs clearance must be borne by you; we have no control
over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies
vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs
office for further information. Additionally, when ordering from www.midwiferytoday.com,
you are considered the importer of record and must comply with all laws
and regulations of the country in which you are receiving the goods.
Shipping
Q: How are orders shipped?
A: Within the continental U.S., orders are shipped by UPS or by
the U.S. Postal Service. Generally, orders of videotapes, jewelry, non-Midwifery
Today publications and large orders are shipped by UPS. Midwifery Today
publications, audiotapes, and small orders are generally shipped by the
U.S. Postal Service. UPS ground service is not available to Alaska, Hawaii,
Puerto Rico or U.S. Territories, so we ship by the U.S. Postal Service to
those destinations. UPS Second Day and Next Day are available for Alaska
and Hawaii, but not for Puerto Rico or U.S. Territories. UPS cannot ship
to post office boxes so we prefer that you submit your street address.
Orders to Canada are shipped by airmail through the U.S. Postal Service.
Orders to all other countries are sent by international surface mail using
the U.S. Postal Service unless airmail shipping is requested.
Q: How many days do UPS shipments take to arrive?
A: UPS ground shipments take about 10 days to reach destinations
east of the Rockies. Destinations west of the Rockies generally take 3-5
days.
Q: How fast is UPS Second Day and Next Day Air
Service?
A: UPS Second Day air orders arrive the second day after the order
is shipped. Please be aware that Second Day Air orders shipped on Friday
will arrive on Tuesday. Some shipments to Alaska and Hawaii require additional
time in transit.
UPS Next Day Air shipments arrive the day after they are shipped. Some
shipments to Alaska and Hawaii require additional time in transit. Please
be aware that during the end-of-year holiday season from December 18-December
28, UPS air shipments may not arrive in the time promised due to the heavy
volume of mail handled by UPS.
Q: How many days do U.S. Postal Service shipments
take to arrive?
A: Within the U.S., orders shipped by the U.S. Postal Service generally
take 3-7 days to arrive. Orders shipped to Canada generally take 4-12
days. Orders shipped by International surface mail take 4-6 weeks, but
can take up to 12 weeks. International airmail orders generally take 1-2
weeks to arrive.
Q: Is there rush shipping available for orders
outside the U.S.?
A: Global Priority Mail (3-5 day delivery) or Global Express Mail
(2-3 day delivery) is available for some countries. Please e-mail orders@midwiferytoday.com
for details.
Q: Does Midwifery Today ship outside the U.S.
by UPS, FedEx or another tracked air service?
A: No, we do not use UPS, FedEx or another tracked air service
for shipments outside the continental U.S., Alaska and Hawaii. These services
tend to be prohibitively expensive and require complicated customs documentation.
Q: How do I determine the airmail shipping price
for orders outside the U.S. or Canada?
A: Please e-mail orders@midwiferytoday.com
and specify what you wish to order, and we will get back to you with a
quote on shipping and handling. If your order is small or does not contain
heavy items, the airmail price may be no more expensive than the published
surface mail rates.
When you select airmail as the shipping method, the price displayed is
$0.00. If you accept the airmail-shipping rate we quoted,
please type the airmail rate quoted and your authorization in the note
field.
Example: I authorize $12.50 U.S. to be charged to my account for airmail
shipping.
Alternately, you can submit your order without receiving a quote for airmail.
We will contact you with a quote by e-mail and you can authorize the airmail
shipping charge by e-mail.
Q: Do I need to pay for rush shipping?
A: In the U.S. if you need your order within 10 days, you should
pay for rush shipping; either UPS Second Day Air, Next Day. However, if
you need your order by a specific date in more than 10 days time, just
let us know your deadline and we will prioritize your order at no extra
cost. In the shopping cart, you can type your deadline in the note field.
For orders to Canada, if you need your order in less than two weeks,
please e-mail orders@midwiferytoday.com
for a quote on Global Priority Mail (3-5 days) or Global Express Mail
(2-3 days). Please realize that the delivery times are estimates and that
results will vary widely from country to country.
For countries other than the U.S. and Canada, if you need your order
in less than 4-6 weeks, please e-mail orders@midwiferytoday.com
for a quote on airmail shipping. If you need to receive the order in less
than two weeks, please e-mail for a quote on Global Priority Mail (3-5
days) or Global Express Mail (2-3 days). These services are not available
to all countries. Please realize that the delivery times are estimates
and that results will vary widely from country to country.
Q: If I want same day rush shipping, by what
time to I need to place my order?
A: For same day shipping within the U.S. we need to receive your
order by noon Pacific Time. Sorry, there is no same day shipping available
for destinations outside the U.S.
Jewelry
Q: Why doesnt Midwifery Today ship
jewelry outside the U.S. and Canada?
A: We have had problems with lost jewelry orders, and it is costly
to replace missing shipments. We will make an exception to this policy
if the customer is willing to pay for shipment by registered airmail.
The cost is generally from $15.00-$18.00. Please e-mail orders@midwiferytoday.com
for a quote.
Clothing and Accessories
Q: Can I order a size or color or type of clothing
or accessory that is not listed on the Web site?
A: Yes, we can take some special orders, for example, if you would
like a particular design on a sweatshirt instead of a T-shirt, or you
need a size or style of T-shirt that is not listed. Please e-mail orders@midwiferytoday.com
with your request, and we will find out the cost and availability of the
item you want. Please allow a few extra days for special orders to arrive.

Q: How long will it take for my listing to
be made live?
A: We will make your listing live as soon as we receive payment.
However, sometimes there is a slight delay in communication between the
accounting department and Web site management. Dont worry, when
your listing is made live, the start date is the day the listing is made
live, not the day the listing was created.
Subscriptions
Q: How soon will I receive my first issue?
A: How soon you receive your first issue depends on when you subscribe.
Our policy is to send the current issue until four weeks before the next
issue is published. We stop sending the current issue four weeks before
publication so that you dont receive two issues within a short time
period. However, if you want to begin with the current issue in the four
weeks before the new issue is published, please specify when you order
that you want to begin with the current issue. Please type your request
in the note field. Please be aware that you will begin to receive renewal
notices when you have two issues remaining in your subscription. Below
are approximate publication dates for each of our print periodicals.
Midwifery Today magazine:
Spring Issue-March 10; Summer Issue-June 10; Fall Issue-September 10;
Winter Issue-December 10
The Birthkit newsletter:
Spring Issue-January 15; Summer Issue-April 15; Fall Issue-July 15; Winter
Issue-October 15.
Having a Baby Today newsletter:
Spring Issue-April 1; Summer Issue-July 1; Fall Issue-October 1; Winter
Issue-January 1.
Q: Can I start my subscription with a
back issue?
A: No, we ask that you begin your subscription with the current
issue or the next issue to be published. Any previous issues can be purchased
as back issues.
Q: I subscribed to/renewed Midwifery Today
not very long ago. Why am I receiving renewal notices?
A: One possibility is that your renewal order crossed in the mail
with the renewal notice or your payment was not processed before the renewal
notice was generated. If this is the case, you will stop receiving renewal
notices shortly.
Another reason you will receive a renewal notice early is that we begin
to send renewal notices for Midwifery Today magazine when you have two
issues remaining in your subscription. If you requested your subscription
to begin with the current issue just before publication of the new issue,
you will already have received half of your subscription within a 2-3
month period. You can renew early or renew later when your issues have
run out.
A third possibility is that one or more of your issues did not arrive
and so it seems that the subscription should not be due for renewal. In
this case, we will send the missing issue(s). Please e-mail admin@midwiferytoday.com
if you believe you are missing issues. Please tell us your current address
so we can check the accuracy of our records.
If you believe your expiration issue is incorrect or you have any other
subscription problems, please e-mail admin@midwiferytoday.com
for assistance.
Q: Why am I receiving a Birthkit renewal notice
already?
A: Birthkit renewal notices are handled differently from Midwifery
Today renewal notices. For Midwifery Today, you receive a renewal notice
based on your expiration issue. For The Birthkit newsletter, we mail a
renewal notice twice a year to all subscribers regardless of the expiration
issue. To determine if you need to renew, please look at the expiration
issue listed on the mailing label of the most recent issue.
Q: How can I find out the status of my subscription?
A: The mailing label on your magazine or newsletter lists your
expiration issue. Compare the expiration issue on the label to the issue
number on the magazine or newsletter to figure out how many issues you
have remaining. Alternately, please e-mail admin@midwiferytoday.com
or call 1-800-743-0974 (U.S. and Canada) or 1-541-344-7438. We cannot
usually give you immediate information about your subscription status
by phone, but you can leave a message, and the subscription department
will get back to you.

Returns, Refunds and Exchanges
Q: What is the return policy on Midwifery
Today audio tapes?
A: Audio tapes are non-refundable. Although audio tape sound quality
is spot-checked for problems, occasionally tapes have
technical problems that we are not aware of. You may exchange audio tapes with technical
problems for another title or for credit toward another purchase within
120 days of purchase. Audio tapes that are sold in packages such as the
Beginning Midwives Package, Doula Tape Package or Clinical Tape Package
have been thoroughly reviewed for sound quality by our staff and so are
unlikely to have technical problems.
Q: What is the return policy on video tapes?
A: Video tapes are non-refundable once they have been opened.
Unopened video tapes may be returned for an exchange or refund within
60 days of purchase. Some videos sold by Midwifery Today are not shrink
wrapped, and we cannot tell if they have been opened. In this case we
apply the honor system, and the video may be returned for an exchange
or refund if it has not been viewed. Midwifery Today will retain the shipping
and handling fee on returns or exchanges. Defective videos may be returned
for an exchange or a refund, in which case, Midwifery Today will refund
or give credit for your return shipping.
Q: What is the return policy on books, back
issues, jewelry, clothing, tote bags, mouse pads and other non-audio/video
products?
A: You may return items for an exchange or refund within 60 days
of purchase if they are in salable condition (audio tapes, video tapes
and subscriptions are excluded. Please read the separate return policy
for these items).
Midwifery Today will retain the shipping and handling fee on returns
and exchanges unless an item was defective or sent in error. Midwifery
Today will give credit or reimbursement for the cost of return shipping
only for returns on defective items or items sent in error. Please be
aware that Midwifery Today cannot be responsible for returned items lost
in the mail. It is advisable to insure costly items such as jewelry against
loss.
Q: Can I cancel my subscription at any time
for a refund?
A: Were sorry, but we do not refund cancelled subscriptions.
If you wish to cancel your subscription, you can receive credit toward
another purchase on the issues that have not yet been mailed. Alternately,
you can transfer your subscription to another person.
If you want to see the magazine before you commit to a subscription,
please purchase a back issue. (See the special offer in the Can
I receive a free sample copy? FAQ.) Please be aware that there are
graphic (and we think beautiful!) depictions of childbirth in Midwifery
Today publications. You may not want to subscribe if explicit photographs
of childbirth and the human body offend you.
Q: How do I return a purchase?
A: Please e-mail orders@midwiferytoday.com
or call 1-800-743-0974 (U.S. and Canada) or 1-541-344-7438 to make arrangements
to return the item(s). In most cases we cannot send a replacement or issue
a refund until the item has been returned. If you need a replacement to
be sent before the item is returned, we will charge your account before
sending the replacement and then credit your account when we receive the
returned item.
