Candace Whitridge Palmo began practicing midwifery in 1979 in a rural mountain community in Northern California where she opened her own clinic and practiced for many years. She was an organic gardener and lived and worked as a retreat coordinator at a Tibetan Buddhist retreat center for 14 years. Although she no longer assists women in childbirth, she now accompanies the dying in their end-of-life transition as a hospice nurse. She writes a blog, musingsofamountainmidwife.blogspot.com.
