Rose Mary Danforth was born in Scotland and came to the United States as a teenage bride. She is the mother of seven, five born by VBAC. Her interest in the birthing community grew each time she choose a VBAC, flying to Scotland twice to avoid a cesarean and giving birth twice while living on a Native American reservation. She began attending births while volunteering at a home for teen mothers, which eventually led to her becoming a certified doula and childbirth educator.
