Peg Browning has been a CNM for 28 years, practicing in a variety of settings from the Navajo Reservation to rural Pennsylvania. In addition to a busy hospital practice, she did some homebirths with the Amish community. She worked with several traditional midwives in the area from whom she learned the essence of midwifery. She now lives in Greenville, Pennsylvania, with her husband. She is learning to appreciate a nine-to-five job in a family planning clinic.
