Travel Directions

By Air:

  • Harrisburg International Airport is located 30 miles (approximately 35 minutes) away by car. 
  • Philadelphia International Airport is 74 miles (approximately 1hr 35 minutes) away by car.
  • Baltimore/Washington International Airport is 85 miles (approximately 1hr 30min) away by car. (Note: BWI typically, though not always, has the cheapest flights.) 
  • Newark Liberty International Airport is approximately 152 miles (2hr 30min). There are a couple routes you can take; note that I-95 is a toll road.

By Car:

We strongly advise using an updated GPS (such as your phone) to navigate to the area. The address is360 Weaver Road, Lancaster, PA 17603.

It is near the intersection of Donerville Road and Weaver Road, between the towns of Mountville, PA and West Lancaster, PA.

  • From West Lancaster 
    • Take Route PA-462 W out of Lancaster for 4 miles to Weaver Road (Interior Homes Furniture Store will be on your left).
    • Turn Left onto Weaver Road.
    • In 0.1 miles turn right to stay on Weaver Road.
    • Destination will be on the right in 0.6 miles.
  • From Mountville
    • Take Columbia Ave/E Main St heading west
    • Turn Right on Donerville Road (this intersection has a light)
    • Turn left onto Weaver Road after 0.5 miles
    • Destination will on the left shortly after the turn.
  • Parking is available on site for conference participants. Designated drivers (who are not themselves attending the conference) will not be able to park onsite.

By Train:

  • The Lancaster Train Station (Amtrack) is located approximately 7.5 miles (15 minutes by car) from the conference site at: 53 McGovern Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17602.
  • It is served by the Keystone Service, with connections available in Harrisburg, Philadelphia, and New York CIty. There are multiple departures daily.

The greater Lancaster/Strasburg/Quarryville area is served by local taxis, Uber, and Lyft. Wait times and fares will depend on availability. Book ahead if possible.

Accomodations

Local Eats:

  • A small farmers market, Country Barn Market, is located within walking distance just across the road from the conference center. This is the only food within walking distance and specializes in local produce and some baked goods. It does NOT serve hot meals.
  • There are several local restaurants, as well as some well-known chains, in nearby Lancaster. The closest is Centerville Diner, which is approximately a mile from the conference location. Please note: there are NOT sidewalks along these county roads, and we do not advise walking along them especially after dark.
  • There are multiple locally-sourced Ice Cream shops in the area. Hours vary by location, and may be cash-only.
  • Be prepared to drive to get dinner (which is NOT provided by the conference.) Uber, Lyft, and local taxis or individual drivers may be available, but in limited supply. Some companies accept pre-booking. Carpooling with another attendee who has a vehicle is also a great option and can lead to some great friendships made over dinner.

Lodging:

  • Sleep Inn & Suites – 5 doubles and 5 king bedrooms available. Cutoff date for booking is Friday, April 12. Guests should be able to book rooms awhile.
    Candlewood Suites – can only offer single queen rooms. All reservations should be made on or before April 1, 2024. (Two-night minimum) Cancellation is 15 days prior to arrival ( 2 nights room and tax ) Follow this link to reserve room:

  • There are some Air BnBs in the area which may be available during the conference weekend. Early booking is strongly encouraged.
    • Midwifery Today is currently negotiating for group bookings at a few local locations. Check back after February 21 for information regarding separate registration to stay at one of those locations.
  • Locally owned and operated guest houses and bed and breakfasts are also available.
  • There are other hotels in the area, including DoubleTree in Lancaster.

Other Local Attractions:

  • Leisure Lanes Bowling & Golf Center> is located about a mile from our conference location. It is open until 11pm every evening if you want to go have some more fun with your new midwife friends after a day filled with learning.
  • The Amish Village has local tours and products available for sale. Approximately 20 minutes away.
  • Ed’s Buggy Rides offers approximately 1 hour horse and buggy rides in the area with friendly drivers. Approximately 18 minutes away. Call 717-687-0360 for more information.The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is in Strasburg, about 25 minutes away.There are multiple antique stores in the surrounding towns of Strasburg, Quarryville, and Lancaster worth visiting, along with markets featuring local crafts, foods, and furniture.

  • Children at the Conference: Mothers may sit with babes in arms in the classrooms. However, out of respect for others and, because we are recording some of the classes, if a baby makes any noise, we must ask mother and baby to leave the room. Attendees must make their own arrangements for childcare.
