Senator Nancy Skinner

A social justice advocate and accomplished legislator, Nancy Skinner was first elected to the state Senate in 2016 after completing three terms in the state Assembly. Senator Skinner currently serves as chair of the Senate’s Budget Committee and vice-chair of the Legislative Women’s Caucus. In 2021, she authored SB 65, the California Momnibus Act, a landmark law designed to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates for Black families and other families of color. She is also author of Free School Meals for All, a 2021 statewide initiative that made California the first state to offer two free meals each school day to all public school children.
